School Values

At Diamond Creek Primary School we pride ourselves on a whole school focus on OUR four values, , RESPECT, CO-OPERATION, PERSISTENCE and (striving for)EXCELLENCE. With our behaviour, attitudes interactions and learning impelled by these values, our students receive not only an academic education but also are supported to develop their emotional and social intelligence throughout their learning journey.

We have written our own emotional literacy program, “Diamond Kids” which develops and enhances each of our values and other associated habits of ‘mind, body and soul’ over time. Each week a on an aspect of our “Diamond Kids” program is introduced at our assembly by our principal, Helen Micallef. Teachers are then constantly referring back to the values within their classrooms to create a supportive and welcoming classroom learning community.

We love to celebrate the achievements of our students each and every day in many different ways. Sometimes a friendly smile, a high five or a simple phrase means so much to our children to encourage their fantastic behaviour and choices.  And then our “Student of the Week” awards, presented to one student per grade that has demonstrated the values within that week to a high standard. Our extra special award is our DIAMOND award, this is a monthly award and awarded to the student within a grade who consistently demonstrates our school values in everything they do. It is a huge honour to receive ‘Diamond of the Month’ at Diamond Creek Primary School.

We feel it is vital to prepare our students to be successful learners and citizens and by entrenching, respect, co-operation, persistence and excellence in the way we live at school we feel we are supporting our students to be the best they can be to shine like Diamonds!
