Prospective families
Enrolments
Please note that there have been some changes to the enrolment process for Prep. These changes affect all DET schools across Victoria.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

Our school zone
Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.
Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.

Foundation (Prep) enrolments
The Department of Education has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.
The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Diamond Creek Primary School.
You can find information and resources about the enrolment timeline at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).

Transition K-F
We enjoy a close relationship with the teachers and assistants in the preschool and childcare settings from which our Foundation students come. We run a very comprehensive transition program, which involves our year five students (who will be the grade 6 buddies in the following year) going to the closest preschool centres to run activities with the preschool students. One example of this is our year five students taking library books up to the local pre-school facilities to read to the pre-school students.

We also run a very comprehensive Pre-Prep Program which begins with two specialist sessions in term two, followed by weekly sessions in term three offering more specialist sessions, pre-reading, pre-writing and many varied craft and music activities. In the fourth term students who are enrolled at Diamond Creek Primary School then progress to another four, two-hour orientation sessions which are run by the teachers who will be teaching them in their foundation year.

Right throughout the year we also invite our local preschools to join us at school for special activities and to use our school facilities; this assists the pre-school students incredibly as they transition from preschool to school.

We are open to all prospective families and offer to conduct individual school tours for families as part of our pre-school to school transition process.

Buddies
The Buddies Program at Diamond Creek Primary School aims to enhance and support the transition process for the new Foundation students each year, whilst promoting leadership skills in the Grade 6 students.
The program begins the year prior to students starting at DCPS with the Grade 5 students being actively involved in our transition program. This allows kinder children to head off to the summer holidays knowing who their teacher and buddy is going to be. Our comprehensive buddy program fosters a strong bond between Grade 6 students and their Prep Buddy which supports a smooth transition and first year of schooling.

Child Safety
At Diamond Creek Primary School we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of each and every student at our school.
Protecting the safety and well being of the students at Diamond Creek Primary School is our highest priority. We do our utmost to ensure the safety of all of our students and we are fully compliant with the Victorian Government’s Child Safe Standards and regulations.

As part of the Child Safe initiative, all of our school volunteers, including parent helpers need to hold a current Working With Children Check.

We pride ourselves in providing a wonderful school environment, which is a safe, supportive and nurturing place for our students.
